According to the latest Gallup poll which examined worker engagement beginning in 2010 and ending in 2012, of the 100 million people in America who hold full-time jobs, 30 million “were engaged, or involved in, enthusiastic about, and committed to their workplace.” If you work in such an environment, congratulations!

Here’s the bad news. 50 million, half of the work force are “checked out” and “not engaged.” And, if that’s not bad enough, the remaining 20 million are “actively disengaged,” hate going to work and undermine their companies with their attitude!

90% of the people on the planet make less than $20,000 per year. 55% of the people in this country say they hate their jobs.

Gallup estimates that workers who are actively disengaged cost the U.S. as much as $550 billion in economic activity yearly. And that doesn’t account for what it costs to have half of the workforce checked out and not engaged.
